Rustu Speaks About Move to Besiktas

When Rustu Recber announced he was signing with Besiktas over the weekend, it came as a surprise to nearly everyone. He had been rumored to be in discussions with Trabzonspor, but many believed he would re-sign with Fenerbahce after missing most of the past season with an injury. Many Fenerbahce fans are angry with Rustu, feeling that he owes the club more loyalty especially after missing much of the season.

Neither Fenerbahce or Besiktas has officially confirmed the signing, but Rustu did release a statement regarding his switch. In an article published on UEFA.com, Rustu stated "It wasn't an easy decision but significant things affected my decision. We goalkeepers know that goalkeeping is a job about judgements. I am not going to think about which people or who caused my decision. I love football and I want to play football not only for my club, but for the national team as well."

Rustu has been a team captain for Fenerbahce for several years as well as a fan favorite. With the move to rivals Besiktas, only time will tell what Rustu's legacy in Kadikoy will be.
