Fenerbahce Denies Involvement With Nick Carle

Despite media reports and statements made by Newcastle Jets (Australia) representatives, Fenerbahce issued a statement on Thursday denying any involvement with midfielder Nick Carle. The statement comes after media outlets in Australia and England said the deal was nearly finished, and Newcastle representatives stated that they would not hold Carle back from signing with Fenerbahce or any other European club. Newcastle representatives also supposedly announced the transfer fee for Carle and indicated that they felt the fee was an appropriate wage.
As our visitors know, my policy on this website is that nothing is official until Fenerbahce states that it is official. As always, check with www.fenerbahce.org for the latest official news on transfers and signings.

This transfer didn't sound very reslistic in the first place. Aziz Yıldırım told Fener fans to expect a transfer on the scale of Roberto Carlos. Considering the fact that the number of foreign players at any one time is still restricted, we should expect a much more spectacular foreign signing in the near future.

So why is this the third story on this blog of this supposed transfer?

Having said that, I wouldn't mind the bloke signing for Gencler.

Damn you, Oz Kanka! :)

I ran with the story because everyone was saying it was happening, including his team in Australia. I back-tracked when Fener said he didn't. Keep in mind, as much as I would like to be a third party and neutral, I am eventually trying to get a job in Turkiye and I would love for that job to be with Fenerbahce. Therefore, pissing them off is not in my best interests...:)

Though he's never really been tested outside the confines of Australian domestic football, I think you'll find that, if you do sign Carle, you won't be disappointed. An extremely entertaining, intelligent footballer - capable of controlling the game from midfield, scoring goals, as well as pulling off any number of crowd-pleasing dribbles and party tricks. Classic Number 10 stuff. A little selfish at times, sure, but it comes with the territory I guess. Anyway, most Australians think he has a big future with our national team, so if he does sign for Fenerbache, hopefully it will only mean good things for both parties.

And now he has made an in principle agreement to play for Genclerbirligi. Good news for me.
