Fenerbahce Deny Interest in Adriano, Altintop
By Nathan L. Redd and Ugur Turker
Despite widespread speculation as of late, Fenerbahce released a statement on Monday denying any interest or connection to transfers of Inter Milan star Adriano or Schalke star Halil Altintop. Rumors of Fenerbahce talking to Adriano have been circulating for many weeks, and it was believed that Adriano was very interested in coming to Kadikoy and playing for Brazilian legend Zico. The rumors of Halil Altintop just began circulating in recent days; the speculation heated up over the weekend after the Turkish Futbol Federation's disappointing ruling on foreign players. It was believed that the ruling lead Fenerbahce to begin looking at their options regarding players with Turkish nationality. Halil, as well as twin brother Hamit, are considered two of the best Turkish players in the world today. Hamit recently signed with Bayern Munich.
