Is Fenerbahce Evaluating Halil Altintop?
By Nathan L. Redd

The latest transfer rumor involves Fenerbahce and striker Halil Altintop. The Turkish national, currently playing for German side Schalke 04, is rumored to be interested in joining Fenerbahce.

With the Turkish Futbol Federation's "6+1" ruling over the weekend, Fenerbahce is evaluating its options and has some big decisions to make. It is expected that at least one and possibly two current Canaries may be departing Kadikoy due to the ruling. The most widely-speculated candidates have been Deivid de Souza and Stephen Appiah, but nothing has been determined just yet. Fenerbahce has also been in the market for another striker to play alongside Mateja Kezman. Fenerbahce has been linked in previous weeks with AC Milan's Ronaldo and Inter Milan's Adriano, but big changes would have to be made in order to bring in another foreign player.

Altintop, the twin brother of Bayern Munich's Hamit Altintop, is a Turkish national and would fit into the roster easily. Halil had 20 goals and finished as the third-highest scorer in the Bundesliga in 2005-2006 for FC Kaiserslautern. He joined Schalke 04 one year ago and scored five goals in 32 appearances. He has 12 caps for the Turkiye National Team since 2004, scoring three goals for the Milli Takim.
