Hooijdonk: Carlos Move 'Significant' for Fenerbahce

Despite a short tenure at Sukru Saracoglu, former Canary Pierre Van Hooijdonk is still a fan favorite in Istanbul. Recently the newly-retired Hooijdonk was in Turkiye for a charity match when he spoke about Fenerbahce's new signing of Brazilian star Roberto Carlos.

"I think it is very significant for Fenerbahçe to transfer Roberto Carlos. I congratulate Fenerbahçe on such an important transfer. Roberto Carlos is not only a master in free kick; but also a splendid player" Hooijdonk told Sabah.

Hooijdonk recently retired from Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam after his second stint with the club.
