Carlos Reportedly Turned Away AC Milan For Fenerbahce

Carlos Reportedly Turned Down AC Milan for Fenerbahce
By Nathan L. Redd

According to sports publication Marca, new Yellow Canary Roberto Carlos turned down a last-minute appeal from AC Milan to sign with Fenerbahce last week. Marca states that Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani contacted Carlos early last week to make him an offer to play at San Siro next season. Additionally, TribalFootball.com states that Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon and Manager Fabio Capello also made a late offer for Carlos to stay in Spain.

Carlos reportedly thanked AC Milan for their interest, but he stated that his desire was to sign with Fenerbahce and he made them a promise that he would keep. It was also reported here last week that several English clubs also tried to lure Carlos away from Madrid.

As I mentioned in my last article on Carlos, these offers only go to show the power and prestige Fenerbahce has to offer. The deal with Carlos also shows that we, as the Fenerbahce Cumhuriyeti, must be tremendously grateful to Aziz Yildirim, Murat Ozaydinli, and all of the Fenerbahce board for this tremendous acquisition. There is no better way for us to show our gratitude than to support the club by purchasing season tickets at Sukru Saracoglu.
