Transfer rumors abound this time of year, and Stephen Appiah's name has been prevalently mentioned for a myriad of European clubs. Glasgow Celtic has reportedly been interested in Appiah for some time, and now German side Schalke has joined the hunt. According to Eurosport UK, the Bundesliga squad is prepared to make Appiah an offer of 8 Million Euro to come to Germany.
"Right now we're thinking about it," admitted Schalke general manager Andreas Mueller. But we are interested in the player, because he would fit perfectly into our set-up. First of all we have to look at the possibilities of a transfer and the economic feasibility of such a transfer. We are not getting our hopes up over this issue as I don't know if we're are going over our financial boundaries" Mueller told Eurosport UK.
Schalke had a promising 2006-2007 campaign, finishing second to Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Meanwhile, Africa's This Day Online and TurkishSoccer.com report that Glasgow Celtic is still interested in Appiah coming to Scotland. They have been linked with a transfer for Appiah for several months, but it is believed he is still under consideration from the Scottish powerhouse.
