Ozil Pursuing "Higher Goal" of Playing for Fenerbahce

Ozil Pursuing "Higher Goal" of Playing for Fenerbahce
By Nathan L. Redd
Schalke 04 and German national midfielder Mesut Ozil recently spoke with UEFA.com and talked about his experiences in his young career, as well as his future goals. The U-19 star of Turkish descent has German nationality and is quickly becoming a star in the Bundesliga. In Germany's championship victory over Russia, Ozil scored one goal and assisted on another. He told UEFA.com "It was very important to win that opening game, because a good start to the tournament is crucial."
Ozil's parents are Turkish, but Mesut grew up in Ruhrgebeit, Germany. He gave up his Turkish citizenship as a teenager in order to represent his native Germany at the international level. Despite this, Ozil still dreams of playing for his native country's greatest club, Fenerbahce. In the UEFA.com article, he stated that he is "constantly pursuing a higher goal" and dreams of one day playing for Fenerbahce or Barcelona, despite being happy with his current situation at Schalke 04.
At Ozil's young age, he may indeed get his wish in the future if he continues to improve on his goal-scoring abilities. You can read UEFA's entire article on Mesut Ozil here: http://www.uefa.com/competitions/under19/news/kind=1/newsid=561792.html
