Fenerbahce 4 - 1 Konyaspor: The Yellow Canaries Are Back!
Fenerbahce 4 - 1 Konyaspor: The Yellow Canaries Are Back!

After 8 weeks of mediocre performances, Fenerbahce has finally won a game by a comfortable margin. Semih was probably the star of the victory, with one goal and two assists.
Konyaspor's hopes of getting a point from a lackluster Fenerbahce was dashed, and dashed quickly. After a fast start to the game that brought them the goal, Konya players were almost non-existent on the pitch, with Fenerbahce carrying the score from 0-1 at 11' to 2-1 at 22', and 4-1 at 54'. The goals for Fenerbahce were scored by Semih, Alex, Vederson and Edu.
Fenerbahce gave a confident performance on the pitch, even though there is an upcoming Champions League game in just 3 days. Normally, Fener makes it a habit to perform poorly just before European games but this time Zico must have been more wary, because Fener players were aware of the importance of the game and dominated the pitch from the start to the finish.
Roberto Carlos was his usual self, with his performances being met by an awed Alex laughing to himself from the substitution bench. Whenever Fener steps out on to the field, Roberto Carlos proves to everyone that President Aziz Yıldırım and his board have done an outstanding job by not writing off Carlos as being too old and insisting on his transfer. If a player cannot be stopped by defenders 10 years younger than him, you know that he is a player worth having.
In the end, Fenerbahce have won a much needed victory, and consequently will be going into the PSV game with a high level of morale. Hopefully, this will not backfire in the form of complacency and the players will come back from the PSV game with a comfortable 7 points out of the possible 9.
