Match Day: Fenerbahce vs. Gaziantepspor

Match Day: Fenerbahce vs. Gaziantepspor
By Nathan L. Redd

Fenerbahce will be looking to put last week's opener behind them today and pick up three points. The Yellow Canaries will be looking for three points in their home opener on Saturday against visiting Gaziantepspor.

Fenerbahce will have Alex de Souza and Diego Lugano in the lineup again, but Stephen Appiah is still sidelined with his injury. Appiah isn't expected to return for 2-3 more weeks. Last week Zico's side looked distracted and sloppy in the 2-0 opening loss to Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyespor. Hopefully the loss was a wake-up call for Fenerbahce, and new Canary Gurhan Gursoy promised a win over Gaziantepspor today. Gursoy told the club website "We did not start the season like we wanted and we really wish to fix this. No matter who plays, everyone is engaged and works for Fenerbahce's sake. We will defeat Gaziantepspor tomorrow." His new teammate, Yasin Cakmak, echoed Gursoy's sentiments. Cakmak said "The Turkcell Super League consists of really good teams. You can never predict what is going to happen or who is going to defeat whom. You have to work and fight hard to win."

Fenerbahce and Gaziantepspor will kickoff Saturday at 21:45 (2:45 PM EST in the U.S.) from Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Kadikoy.
