Erciyesspor Defeats Trabzonspor in Fortis Turkish Cup

Kayseri Erciyesspor took the first step in Fortis Turkish Cup final qualifying today, as they beat Trabzonspor 1-0 in Trabzon. Zdravko Ivanov Lazarov found the back of the net for Erciyesspor in the 80th minute, and it was all they needed as their defense preserved the clean sheet and a crucial away goal that could mean a trip to the final if they can hold steady in the second leg.
Fenerbahce and Besiktas face off today at 20:00 (1 PM EST in the U.S.) at BJK Inonu Stadium on the European side of Istanbul. The game will feature a number of story lines, along with the fact that Fenerbahce currently sits in first place in the Turkcell Super Lig, with second place Besiktas only four points behind. Additionally, the two chairmen of the clubs have been bantering back and forth for the last week after each making statements regarding their club's finish down the stretch. Adding to the mix, Fenerbahce scoring threat Tumer Metin will play his first game back at Inonu Stadium since leaving the Black Eagles last season. Metin had two goals for Besiktas in their win over Fenerbahce last year, including the game-winner in stoppage time.
The second leg of the Trabzonspor vs. Kayseri Erciyesspor match will be played on April 25 at 20:00 (1 PM EST in the U.S.) at Ataturk Stadium in Kayseri. The second leg of the Fenerbahce vs. Besiktas match will be played on April 26 at 20:00 (1 PM EST in the U.S.) at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Kadikoy.
