Fenerbahce Drops Konyaspor 3-0

With only 10 games left in the season, every game has become a "must-win" for the Yellow Canaries and Fener did jus that on Saturday, dropping Konyaspor 3-0 in Kadikoy. Marco "Mehmet" Aurelio's header just before the half left the home team feeling a little more comfortable headed into the locker rooms.
The second half allowed Fenerbahce more breathing room, as the Canaries took a 2-goal lead less than ten minutes in from a Mateja Kezman header. Six minutes later Alex de Souza found the back of the net to put Fenerbahce up 3-0 and put the game out of reach. The lead took the pressure off of Serdar, who has replaced Volkan Demirel in goal. Serdar preserved the clean sheet for Fenerbahce, who now sits six points ahead of second place Besiktas.
After the game, Zico sounded confident and happy with the team's performance. “My team did what it had to do and fought as it needed to. We could score more goals if we acted calmer but the amount of goals doesn't matter when you get three points.”
Second-place Besiktas nearly came away with a draw on Sunday, but Matias Delgado found the back of the net six minutes prior to the end of regulation, allow the Black Eagles to pick up the 1-0 win. Galatasaray's Sasa Ilic and Arda Turan scored to give the Lions a 2-1 win over Trabzonspor over the weekend. On Friday, Kayserispor and Sakaryaspor played to a 3-3 draw, dropping Kayseri down in the standings.
Fenerbahce now sits atop the Super Lig with 48 points, six points ahead of second-place Besiktas. Galatasaray is one point behind with 41 points, and Kayserispor sits behind them in fourth place with 39 points. Fenerbahce will go on the road this weekend to Bursa hoping to pick up three more points. Konyaspor will host Galatasaray, Besiktas will play host to Erciyesspor, and Kayserispor is at home taking on Antalyaspor.
