Could Nikola Zigic Be Fener's Mystery Transfer?
By Nathan L. Redd

Speaking to the Iznik Fenerbahce Association, Fenerbahce President Aziz Yildirim teased fans with the possibility of a new transfer coming to Kadikoy. According to England's Sky Sports, Serbian striker Nikola Zigic could be the new acquisition.

Zigic has been a target of English side Manchester City, but Sky Sports reports that Germany's Werder Bremen, as well as Fenerbahce have expressed interest. Fenerbahce may have to act quickly if they want to bring the Racing Santander striker to Kadikoy. According to Santander President Francisco Pernia, the club is already in negotiations with Werder Bremen and Man City. Pernia told El Diario Montanes "In the next few days we will be able to know more about Zigic's future." When asked if Manchester City was the focus of those talks, Pernia said "Yes, but there is also a German club interested in him and we are in negotiations."

The 26-year-old would be an imposing scoring threat alongside Mateja Kezman. At 6'7, he is one of the world's tallest footballers and also a veteran of his native Serbia's National Team. He's been capped 20 times for Serbia, scoring eight goals in those appearances. Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, and Barcelona have all been rumored to be interested in the striker in the past.
