Match Day: Fenerbahce vs. CSKA Moscow

Match Day: Fenerbahce vs. CSKA Moscow
By Nathan L. Redd

UEFA Champions League match day is finally here, and Fenerbahce and CSKA Moscow will be among the first to kickoff the day's games.

Fenerbahce is looking to keep their momentum going in the UEFA Champions League, while CSKA Moscow is gasping for air after their disappointing Russian Super League campaign winds down. CSKA is all but out of the championship hunt, while Fener also sits in a rare sixth-place position in the Turkcell Super Lig. CSKA is looking to salvage their 2007 season, while Fenerbahce is hoping to improve their European profile.

CSKA is hoping to have their star Daniel Carvalho back in the lineup on Tuesday. Fenerbahce will be without Stephen Appiah, Tumer Metin, and Serdar Kulbilge who are all still out suffering from knee injuries. Kick-off is set for 20:30 Turkish time (1:30 PM EST in the U.S.) from Moscow on Tuesday.

I agree. If only it wasn't for Edu's mistakes... But as I have said in my article, I'm still in full support of Edu. I think the Edu-Lugano duo is the best central defensive option that is available to anyone in our league.

I wonder what those people who waged a war against Deivid last year think right now? Thanks to his two goals, we won 4 points in the Champions League. I can only hope that he continues to give strong performances, both in the CL and in the Turkish League.
