Fanatical About Footie in Turkiye
There is a fantastic article about the Fenerbahce vs. Galatasaray Derby in today's Sun newspaper, an English news outlet. The article paints a venemous picture of the rivalry, especially after Saturday's violent outbursts. Except for the constant and inconsistent misspellings of "Fenerbahce," it's a solid article. You can read the article, in its entirety with photos, by visiting http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2001320029-2007230264,00.html

Nathan, don't forget that these guys were here for the November derby at Fener's stadium. I'm not sure if you have ever seen the programme they were talking about in the article, "Real Football Factories".
Basically it is some smug wanker who goes around trying to paint the worst of football fans.
The producers came to Ankara to do some background on this show and wanted us to appear on camera. After seeing how they dramatise violence, wallow in it and paint practically everyone on the show as a hooligan we declined. We set out our reasons for declining in this post.
Oz, wow - I didn't know that. I haven't seen the show, but is the impression I got from the article. We have a network here in USA called "Bravo" but I think it is something different. I'll check out your article.
This also sounds a lot like an article that English mag FourFourTwo did on the Derby a couple of years ago.
The Sun piece is interesting. I mean, they present the story in a weird way.
It is about FB-GS match in Kadikoy 6 months ago, but it is published just after GS-FB match last weekend.
I hate British tabloids, but how could I miss this newstory? Thanks for spotting it.
Remember the Sun piece was done because yesterday was the first night of the new series of "Real football factories." I think the fact that it was printed a few days after the latest derby match was just a co-incidence.
