Hassan Hopes Fans Make Difference for Anderlecht

Hassan Hopes Fans Make Difference for Anderlecht
By Nathan L. Redd

Anderlecht striker Ahmed Hassan knows Turkish futbol well, having spent a good deal of time at Istanbul Besiktas. Hassan still has some disdain for Fenerbahce from his experiences, and he hopes that his new team's fans will make the difference in the UEFA Champions League second leg. "I'm counting on our fans to support us. We can do it, but we need to be focused" he told fansite Purple Dynamite. His teammate, Lucas Biglia went on to say "The game against Brussels was a good preparation for the one against Fenerbahçe. We have to start well. Playing one good half won't be enough."

Anderlecht goalkeeper Daniel Zitka told Purple Dynamite "The next game will be a very important one, against Fenerbahçe. Anderlecht need to overcome the 1-0 defeat in Turkiye in order to qualify for the Champions League. Holding the nill is important."

Once again your Istanbul bias gets the better of you. :) Ahmed Hassan learnt his Turkish football at Genclerbirligi where he played for a lot longer than he did at Besiktas.

You're right, Oz. I actually knew that and totally forgot. Sorry for the omission.
