Kadikoy Kings: Fenerbahce Wins 4-1

The question going into Friday night's game was about Fenerbahce's ability to play under pressure as the Super Lig's top team. The answer was exactly what Canary fans were hoping for. Fener received goals from Stephen Appiah, Alex de Souza, Tumer Metin, and Deivid de Souza to put away Gaziantepsor 4-1. It was their second win over Gaziantepspor in 10 days, after defeating them in the Turkish Fortis Cup earlier.

Fenerbahce was again short-handed without the services of Mateja Kezman, Mehmet Yozgatli, and Rustu Recber. Kezman and Yozgatli have resumed training after their injuries, but Zico kept them out of this weekend's match for precautionary reasons. Rustu Recber is healing from a back injury and hopes to rejoin the team soon. Zico went with the starting eleven of Volkan, Appiah, Tuncay, Tümer, Önder, Alex, Deniz, Uğur, Lugano, Edu, and Deivid.

Visiting Gaziantepspor hoped to pick up three points and move into third place in the league, but Appiah's goal early in the second half dampened their spirits. Gaziantep responded with an equalizer ten minutes later, but goals from Alex and Deivid put the game away shortly after. Mehmet Aurelio replaced Deivid in the 88th minute, and Tumer Metin scored in extra time to give the host Canaries some insurance.

Fenerbahce's win gives them a three-game winning streak with upcoming UEFA Cup games and the Denizlispor Roosters up next in the Turkcell Super Lig.
